Our homeschooling group has a book club for children, sponsored by a local library. As we wanted the group to be open to all ages and levels of reading, we decided to have the children meet once a month to discuss books within a particular topic, rather than reading just one specific title. The children have enjoyed this. Some of them write book reports, some just talk about what they've read, some draw pictures, make dioramas, or even act out skits. (Props have included a giant beach umbrella, a crutch for Tiny Tim, dried figs to share so the kids can taste an example of authentic ancient Egyptian food, and live hermit crabs.) The librarian is kind enough to set out books appropriate for the following meeting's topic, and I do my best to post something that might be of help to those who might want to attend.
You can find links to details of past meetings on the Talk page.
